Breathe a little easier this winter…
The weather is starting to turn and, for those of us who have spent the spring and summer suffering with hay fever (humans and horses alike), there may finally be a little relief on the horizon!
Why do horses start coughing in winter?
It isn’t just spring and summer that can cause respiratory problems. For some horses, coming back into the stable for winter means more exposure to dust, bedding and hay. That’s when the coughing can start.
How a nebuliser can help horses with respiratory problems
Nebulisers have long been one of the options we use to help manage horses with ongoing respiratory problems. But the cost of buying a horse nebuliser has often put them out of reach for many owners.
The good news is that Haygain have now released a much more competitively priced nebuliser – the Haygain Breather nebuliser – and we got our hands on one to try last week.
Our verdict on the new Haygain Breather nebuliser
A few things immediately made sense to us:
- It’s made in the UK, so replacement parts are readily available and reasonably priced.
- It’s really easy to use. No cables, simple to operate and, importantly, it’s drop-proof. We can confirm this because a slightly over-excited and not particularly graceful Shelley promptly dropped it onto a solid floor. Thankfully, both Shelley and the nebuliser survived completely unscathed!
- It’s cost-effective, making nebulisation a much more realistic option for owners who may previously have been put off by the price.
